With the rising costs and inconveniences of organizing a trip to France from within the tight academic schedule, many schools are looking for simpler, cost-effective alternatives without compromising the education of their students.
The Silfiac Arts and Language Centre is offering, from September 2009, schools the opportunity of having one of our native French FLE-qualified teachers come and teach intensive French courses at a date convenient to them - school term, or school holidays. The teachers will bring a taste of France - life, history and culture - to the students. All of our teachers are cleared by the relevant authorities.
The courses are open to all ages and levels of ability, so can serve as an introduction to the language if your school does not have French on the curriculum, or help students prepare for exams. Schools can have teachers for more than one week, if desired - this can often bring discounted rates, so please contact us for details of prices.
Recommend our French for Schools course to other schools, and for each one that books and pays, you will be able to claim $50 / £30, in the form of a discount on a future booking or as a return. This could equate to big savings.
Students are provided with intensive and introductory courses in their own school.
The intensive courses are perfect for secondary-level students, flexibly designed according to age and based upon the levelling set forth in The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, with schools being able to provide their own input if particular areas of some student(s) learning need attention - certain topics, or areas such as pronunciation, for example. The aim is to advance the students towards the next level in the framework.
Introductory courses are perfect for primary-age students and are based upon cultural games and activities to advance the general knowledge of the country and the language. They are delivered by our bilingual native French teachers.
We provide materials as part of the price but ask that our teachers be allowed access to the Internet and photocopier at the school if so required.
Due to the nature of the intensive course, we ask that the class sizes are limited to no more than fifteen students, in order to allow for maximum progress in a limited period of time. Schools can therefore choose to have two French teachers, or more, come to their schools during the same week. Schools can secure particular weeks with a small deposit, paying the balance one week prior to the course commencement date. We prefer Paypal, but can accept payments by cheque for this course. Please be aware that due to the nature of the programme, no refunds are possible for the French for Schools courses. We therefore ensure that schools have the most suitable weeks for them before taking payment.
USA Schools: Please let us know your preferred week and we will provide you with an individual quote. Schools can save money this way, with additional savings coming from advance bookings and having a teacher for more than one week. All USA prices are below $2200, with the actual fee depending on location, date and accommodation.
Additional savings for all schools are made through advance bookings, providing suitable accommodation for the teacher and booking additional weeks.
